Know your body type and how it applies to you and your weight loss or weight gain.



Ectomorph: This is your regular skinny person who never adds weight no matter what they eat. I am sure we have some friends like this. They are lean built, has little muscle and no body fat. they alway have trouble gaining weight. But if they choose to build muscle or gain weight, they will have to do heavy muscle training, do little cardio and consume more calories than they burn.


Endomorph: this is really common,  heavy built, gains weight easily and struggles to loose body fat like myself. To maintain a healthy weight balance we must burn more calories than we consume. A vigorous work out regime, exercise for 4 to 5 times a week. Also do lots of cardio like jogging for 30 minutes daily. Eat 5 small meals a day each meal should comprise of mostly lean protein and green vegetables remember everything you chew on is a meal. Avoid regular junk food like sweets, soda etc.


Mesomorph: This is the ideal body build. Easy to gain if he chooses and easy to loose. This body type is great for body building.

Every one has a combination but each individual predominantly leans towards one, so find you and enjoy your weight loss or weight gain.

How Kim dropped 22.5kg of her first pregnancy weight by using the Atkins diet.





The Atkins diet is popularly know as a low carbon nutritional approach to weight loss, promoted by and researched by Robert C. Atkins, M.D.

Kim kardashian used the diet along with rigorous exercises to loose 22.6kg/50 pounds of her previous pregnancy weight  in 6 months. She began the diet immediately after delivery but no exercise because she breastfed her baby North. She begun exercising  2 weeks into breastfeeding and built in up.

Breakfast:  2 egg omelet with cheese and spinach
Snack No. 1:  Hummus with veggies (cucumber, red pepper, broccoli)
Lunch:  Grilled salmon, asparagus, side salad with creamy dressing
Snack No. 2:  Turkey & Cheese Roll-ups or Greek Yogurt with slivered almonds & blueberries
Dinner:  Chicken breast, broccoli, side salad with olive oil dressing.He also suggests "proteins like fish, poultry, and lean meats; healthy fats like avocado, nuts, and olive oil;  lots of colorful vegetables filled with antioxidants and fiber; and low glycemic fruits like berries—essential foods for maintaining energy."

For all the plantain lovers out there like myself! This is the difference between ripe and unripe plantain.





Benefits of unripe plantain.

Unripe plantain has high resistant starch content for anyone trying to avoid foods with high sugar. Especially people with type 2 diabetes unripe plantain is a great choice for you . But it is low in antioxidants because the level of antioxidant increases as the plantain ripens, it also causes some bloating and gas due to starch.



Benefits of ripe plantain

Ripe plantain is rich in vitamin A, C and minerals such as potassium. It is easier to digest because it is high in fibre, has higher levels of antioxidants. They also have anti cancer qualities and help immunity enhancement which combats abnormal cells. Overly ripe plantains are not advised to be eaten as some minerals diminish in that state.

Ripe plantain is more alkaline than unripe.

If you also cut back on the amount of food you eat by a few hundred calories a day, you can hasten the pace of your weight loss.

Green vegetable leaves


Green vegetables are full of fibre, vitamins, minerals along with plant based substances that can help improve your health. They may even protect you from diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

This is a portion of green vegetable soup can be eaten with oat meal, pounded yam, pounded plantain and rice(ofada rice). Always ensure your vehetables are more than your protein and don't over cook it.

Green leaves
Fresh tomato paste
Dry fish
Crayfish
Kpomo
Garlic
Ginger
Sea salt.
1 table spoon of palm oil.

Should Ulcer patients avoid milk?




Milk, alcohol, coffee including decaf, carbonated beverages, hot peppers, processed foods, salty and red meat and deep fries are foods ulcer patients should avoid.

On the subject of milk many ulcer patients are told to drink milk but researchers found it to increase stomach acid secretion and some researchers in the eighties also found out that it actually delays  the healing of duodenal ulcers.

Do not miss breakfast: Eat breakfast that are high in fibre and protein because they help curb hunger

Keep track of snacks: Never say a snack is not food. We must be aware that every food, snack, gum, biscuits, sweets, ice cream  and nibbles have calories and will always increase our regular calorie intake.

Do not load up a lot of low fat calorie foods, always portion your food.

Drinks contain calories too: Whether, Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Ribenna, Lucozade boost or sport cocktails, beer and spirits be mindful of your intake.

Drink a lot of water.
