Benefits of unripe plantain.

Unripe plantain has high resistant starch content for anyone trying to avoid foods with high sugar. Especially people with type 2 diabetes unripe plantain is a great choice for you . But it is low in antioxidants because the level of antioxidant increases as the plantain ripens, it also causes some bloating and gas due to starch.



Benefits of ripe plantain

Ripe plantain is rich in vitamin A, C and minerals such as potassium. It is easier to digest because it is high in fibre, has higher levels of antioxidants. They also have anti cancer qualities and help immunity enhancement which combats abnormal cells. Overly ripe plantains are not advised to be eaten as some minerals diminish in that state.

Ripe plantain is more alkaline than unripe.
