Ekiti Lawmakers Report Ex-Gov. Kayode Fayemi To EFCC

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), calling for investigation and prosecution of the immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and six others over an alleged misappropriation of over 40 billion naira belonging to the state.

According to Channel TV The petition dated October 24, 2016 and signed by the Speaker of the House was submitted to the EFCC in Abuja by three lawmakers from the state led by the Deputy Speaker, Mr Segun Adewumi.
The Deputy Speaker who addressed journalists after submitting the petition said that they decided to make the petition public after the former governor turned down their invitations twice.
He said: “We want EFCC to rise above media sentiment and investigate this petition and bring him to book if he is guilty because Ekiti state is actually suffering.
“The penchant for selective anti-corruption fight must stop. It must be extended to everybody that is alleged.
“We invited him twice and he refused to show up. We wrote a letter to him inviting him to come and explain the grey areas, he turned it down. So we have done the procedure very well in the state house of assembly and he was the one that failed us.
“This is an arm of government that is meant to uphold the rule of law and that is why we are here to report to them (EFCC).”
